True healing engages much more than the physical. It means a return to wholeness. With illuminating consciousness as my principle intention, I have charted the journey into the depths of awareness. I have learned to observe the minute indications of interference and obstruction. When I work with individuals, I am able to offer pragmatic guidance that allows them to accelerate their way to discovery and freedom.

My commitment is to teach people the tools and skills required to travel their Path themselves. In sessions and classes, we demonstrate the differences between true personal power and willful force, bringing the practical benefits into every arena of life.

Tai Chi (Taiji) can be used as the doorway for plumbing the depths of the human psyche, emotions, mind, and soul. Tai Chi is the perfect method for eliminating body-armor and trauma. "The more I study the art, the more in awe I am of its capacities. "

Taiji, the ancient Chinese movement art, transforms lives. The slow motion action exercises the mind as well as the body. In the course of teaching, students often have habitual tensions they cannot release. Taiji is all about releasing tension. It is the best exercise I've found for teaching relaxation. Habitual tensions create dysfunctions that properly performed Taiji eradicates.

Most of us are imprisoned by tension and armoring inside our bodies. Years of use, past injuries, illness, heartbreak, abuse and the daily grind impact our wellbeing. Our bodies are the storehouse for memories. Everything that ever happened in our lives on in us. Memory lives in the bones, the muscles and the cells. Nothing can pass through us without it being revealed in the substance of our bodies.

Experience, once it has been lived, disappears into the reservoir of the body. Buried beneath layers of muscle, fat, bone and organ, experiences plant themselves in the nearly invisible depths. Memories often fade with time, but we all know how a smell or a touch, a sound or a place can suddenly bring back a past memory we haven't thought of in ages. Nothing dies. It's all energy, and energy transforms but doesn't dissolve away. This is even more obvious within our bodies than for the universe as a whole.

Taiji offers the ability to consciously transform subconscious patterns by first bringing them to the light, then releasing the blocks that inhibit freedom, and finally re-patterning them into functional pathways. Emotions that have been blocked, sometimes for decades, release. Regular practice brings a clarity of mind, as the careful work of observing our minute reactions allows us to make new responses. When we can come to the cusp of a feeling such as anger, we can choose to responds differently. Once we've fallen into our emotions we are obliged to follow them all the way through.

Taiji gives us back the power of our own freedom of choice. Even in difficult situations, the best use of Taiji's self-defense capability is to be able to transmute a situation of conflict into one of cooperation. Most often this happens within the relationships of the people we care most about. Remember that most of our fights are with our families, friends and colleagues. The least common fight is the one on the street.
